CARICOM-SICA Summit - March 3rd. 2022

March 3rd. 2022. San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize
The CARICOM Summit on San Pedro Ambergris Caye (March 1st.-2nd.) has concluded, but the Heads-of-Government have remained on the island for the CARICOM-SICA Summit, which now includes all CARICOM States and 7 Central American countries, this is the 4th. annual meeting of the regional 'Heads-of-State' which is dubbed, The CARICOM-SICA Summit.

The Summit which is chaired by our Prime Minister Hon. John Briceno. SICA members are Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Belize, Honduras and Guatemala.

SICA was created in 1991 and is a Spanish abbreviation: 'Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana'

Caribbean Development Bank Visits Belize

Monday + Tuesday February 7th. - 8th.
A large group of CDB Executives and Evaluators from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is in Belize at the invitation of the Government of Belize. This morning the President of the CDB Dr. Gene Leon (see photo) and accompanying Team of evaluators met with the Cabinet at The House of Culture in Belize City.

Prime Minister: John Briceno In Honduras For President's Inauguration

On Friday January 26th.
Prime Minister John Briceno departed the country this morning and landed in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for the inauguration of the president. Xiomara Castro, which will take place on Thursday Jan. 27th.
Xiomara Castro has become the first woman president of Honduras.
Accompanying the Prime Minister are Minister of Foreign, Eamon Courtenay and CEO Amalia Mia
PM Briceno and team will return on Friday Jan. 28th.

Belize Defence Forces New Commander & 44th. Anniversary

On Friday January 21st. the Belize Defence Forces celebrated their 44th. anniversary and installed a new commander, Brigadier General 'Azariel Loria'. The honor guard and ceremony was witnessed by several dignitaries, including the Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño and Governor General Froyla T’zalam.
