Diplomatic ‘Row’ Between Jamaica & USA | Ref: LGBTQ and Same Sex Marriage Diplomats

There is a deepening row brewing between Jamaica and the United States because the Jamaican government is not recognizing and accrediting the (same-sex) spouse of a U.S Diplomat in Jamaica. In response the U.S has requested that several Jamaican diplomats including the ambassador, leave the United States after their term of diplomatic visa’s expires later this year.

A legal source in the Jamaican government told the local media there, “that approval of the request would mean that Jamaica recognizes same-sex marriage, which is illegal in Jamaica”.

The ‘disagreements has been festering for several weeks and the Jamaicans are not backing down on there refusal to recognize same-sex marriages. The following is a news video segment from our friends at Jamaica Information Services (Jamaica TV).
