Police are investigating the drowning of a 7yr-old girl ‘Rebecca Luсіаnnу Тhоmрѕоn’ which occurred Monday afternoon (March 21st.).
Initial investigation are that a Canadian National (Маrу Аrnоld) who is the guardian of 7yr-old Rebecca Luсіаnnу Тhоmрѕоn reported to police that she took the child to bathe in the Mopan/Macal river near the village of Santa Familia on Monday afternoon.
She said the child was playing with a toy in the river that floated awry and the child was trying to get it when she began to struggle in the water, which is about 2 feet deep but strong currents.
The guardian ‘Mary Arnold’ said she tried to get to the child but fell several times, thereafter she went for help. the body of Rebecca Luсіаnnу Тhоmрѕоn was retrieved from the river by a teenager that was nearby, and they tried to give her CPR to revive her. Luсіаnnу Тhоmрѕоn died at the scene and police are investigating.
